SILICON KT312 WASP
The WASP is such a great platform distortion/fuzz that takes many transistors well. Until recently, I had only produced it with germanium transistors because the circuit is tuned to compensate for the added low end that germaniums bring to the table. I ended up having some time to sit down and audition some silicons in the system and really liked these NOS Soviet KT312b’s. They have a unique mids hump that adds a lot of presence and as silicons tend to do, it cuts through the mix well without being brittle or harsh.
This is the first of many silicon variations I’m sure I’ll get around to releasing, but being the first, I’m calling this one a custom shop model for now.
