ROCKET FUZZ
The Rocket's circuit is one of my personal favorites due to its many upgrades and departures from the more conventional fuzz face. If you have been searching for a sonically rich, spitty silicon fuzz that retains warmth and character at any position of your guitar's volume knob, then the Rocket is for you!
Based on Roger Mayer's Axis Fuzz, the Rocket features a NPN and PNP pair of silicon transistors, we typically use NOS Motorola or Siemens transistors for this one. From there, the tonal profile has been tweaked to create a bit less flub than the original that really helps you cut through the mix without being too shrill or brittle sounding. The circuit's innovative design and components make sure the noise floor stays as quiet as possible along the way. In addition, a high input impedance allows you the flexibility that low impedance fuzzes just don't offer. This pedal CAN be placed after a buffer and operate correctly.
We bias these to hit a good balance between generous sustain (much more than a typical fuzz face) and that spitty, fuzzy velcro we all love.
